An armored car guard shot and fatally wounded an unarmed robber this morning in a dollar store in Germantown, police said.

Police said the shooting occurred about 9:37 a.m. when the alleged thief walked into the Family Dollar Store on the 5200 block of Germantown Avenue and choked the guard while trying to grab the money bag.
The guard shot the man four times, hitting him in the chest and arms, police said.
The wounded man was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he died about an hour later, police said.
6ABC quoted neighborhood residents as saying they had seen the man in the area acting irrationally beforehand.
Police said the robber was not armed. Investigators were interviewing the armored car crew.
