Phillies tickets: Going, going ... but not gone yet

The good news: Many Phillies games do have seats left.

The good news: Many Phillies games do have seats left.

The bad news: Probably not for long.

Anyone without tickets who wants seats this season is advised to act fast.

After all, last year the team sold out 73 of the 81 games at Citizens Bank Park, according to John Weber, vice president for sales and ticket operations.

A team record 3.6 million tickets were sold - about 40,000 less than complete capacity, including standing room, he said.

And sales are ahead of last year.

Here's how slim the pickin's are gettin':

More than half of the remaining home games have no seats left or "limited availability," according to a rundown at phillies.com.

The only Saturday or Sunday seats left in May, June or July are because of a newly announced city switch. Toronto will play here June 25 to 27, because of security issues related to a summit of world leaders. After season-ticket holders get a shot, single-game tickets for the series will go on May 21 at 9 a.m.

"There are going to be plenty of seats to sell for these games," Weber said.

Eleven games don't even have any standing-room tickets left - except for the 500 made available a few hours before each game.

Moreover, the plug could soon be pulled on one of the last promotional deals, the Six Pack. It lets fans pick a half-dozen games, including one from a selection of otherwise sold-out dates, such as Father's Day (June 20), the fireworks nights on July 8 and 9, and Fan Appreciation Day (Sept. 26).

"If we're not done with those, we're getting very close to not having that any more," Weber said.

Another last-chance option are the Pre-game Tent Party Packages, which include music, food and drink, as well as seats for Boston on May 23, Father's Day, the Mets on Aug. 6 or 8, or Fan Appreciation Day. The cost: $100 per ticket, minimum of six, according to Phillies.com.

The upshot is clear: The longer fans wait, the fewer options they'll have.

Like begging from friends. Buying from a reseller. Or traveling to some other park to see the Phils.

Looks like the Yankees still have some $300 tickets left for the series they're hosting June 15, 16 and 17. The middle contest even has a bonus: It's 27-Time World Champions Bottle Opener Night.
