Kennett Square woman accused of embezzling $13,700

Nearly $14,000 in Kennett Square parking fines was pocketed by a former borough employee, authorities said Thursday.

Anna Lisa Hall, 34, of Kennett Square, a 2 1/2-year receptionist/clerk for the borough, was arraigned Wednesday on theft charges, a borough news release said.

Borough management discovered discrepancies between collections and deposits in the parking fund last month, finding a shortfall of $13,700, the release said. Hall resigned from her post after management began inquiring about her duties involving the collection of money from parking violations, the release said.

Chester County Magisterial District Judge Daniel J. Maisano, who released Hall on $5,000 unsecured bail, scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 15. The borough intends to seek restitution, the release said.
