A 23-year-old Chester County man was killed and his friend critically injured when their car ran off the road, overturned and hit a tree in northern Delaware, police said late Sunday.
It is not known when exactly the car crashed.
Delaware State Police said it was discovered at 7 a.m. Sunday. Also, they said they do not know who was driving because both men were evicted from the vehicle.
Killed was Dareus J. Knight, 23, of Oxford, police said.
His friend, Christopher M. Dorczuk, 22, also of Oxford, was admitted to Christiana Hospital with bleeding on the brain. Police said he was unconscious.
State police said the men were in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on Route 896 in front of the White Clay Creek State Park north of Newark when the driver apparently lost control and the car slid sideways off the road on its roof and struck a tree.
Knight was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said alcohol is suspected in the crash and that neither man appeared to be wearing a seat belt.
