Police: Man shot for cell phone

A 48-year-old man was shot in the stomach and critically wounded Tuesday night during a cell phone robbery in West Philadelphia, police said.

A 48-year-old man was shot in the stomach and critically wounded Tuesday night during a cell phone robbery in West Philadelphia, police said.

Police are looking for three men and a woman in the 11:10 p.m. attack at 51st and Locust Streets.

Police said the four approached the victim and demanded his cell phone when one of them shot him.

The wounded man was taken in a private to Mercy Philadelphia Hospital and then was transferred to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was reported in critical but stable condition.

Detectives were waiting for the victim to come out of post surgery sedation to talk to him.
