Boy, 2, dies of gunshot wound to head

A 2-year-old boy shot at his Chester home early Sunday died today at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Terrence Webster, known by his neighbors at the Chester Apartments on West Ninth Street as "Lil Pop" for his love of Pop-Tarts and popsicles, was shot in the head sometime after 2 a.m. Sunday morning. His parents were just coming home when shots rang out, putting two holes in the front door, neighbors said.

Terrence's mother, Tisheta Green, 25, of the 1200 section of the housing development, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The boy's father, Thomas Webster, 26, was shot in the hand. Both were treated and released from Crozer-Chester Medical Center Sunday.

Police have not said if they have anyone in custody for the crime. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Patrick Mullen at 610-447-7813 or Det. Michael Palmer of the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division at 610-891-4700 or the Chester City Anonymous Tip Line at 610-447-7810.

Neighbors plan to hold a barbecue benefit Tuesday beginning around noon. They plan to sell hot dogs and other food to raise money for Green, who has two more young sons.

"Any donation, even a quarter would help," said a man who asked to be identified only as "Tate," who lives next door to Green and said he was Terrence's godfather. "There's violence everywhere but I mean, enough is enough. Certain things just never should happen."
