Hundreds of young people descended on Love Park this evening and a large group moved up Broad Street and inundated the Spring Garden subway station, closing it temporarily.

Dozens of police gathered to disperse the crowds - mainly teens that began showing up after 7 p.m. - from Love Park and pushed one group of several hundred up Broad Street.

That group moved into the Spring Garden stop, but were eventually forced out by police and continued north on Broad.

Sylvana Hoyos, a spokeswoman for SEPTA, said the Spring Garden and Fairmount stations were closed for about 20 minutes, but have been reopened.

"Nobody was harmed. Nothing was damaged," she said.

The police brought in a helicopter to monitor the situation.

By 8:20 p.m., the situation at Love park was declared under control by police.

There have been no other reports of violence or property damage.
