Man missing in Pennypack Creek

Police were searching for a 20-year-old Holmesburg man who disappeared Tuesday evening in Pennypack Creek.

The man was with a group of friends floating in separate rafts when two of them went over some small waterfalls around 6:40 p.m., police said.

The man disappeared near the Roosevelt Boulevard overpass, prompting an extensive search of the creek and its banks all the way to the Delaware River.

Another man was rescued from the creek by firefighters just before noon Tuesday after hanging on to a railroad bridge support for two hours.
