A body discovered Thursday afternoon on a bank of Pennypack Creek is that of a missing 20-year-old Holmesburg man who disappeared in the water Tuesday evening, police said.

Officer Tanya Little, a Police Department spokeswoman, said the body was found shortly after 3 p.m. by friends who had continued to search for Saulius Kvaraciejus.

He disappeared in the rain-swollen creek near the Roosevelt Boulevard overpass. Police ended their search Tuesday night and said that he probably drowned.

Police confirmed the identification after the body was found.

Kvaraciejus was with two friends on separate blow-up pool rafts on the creek when he fell off and succumbed to the creek's strong current.

Earlier that day, another man was rescued from the Pennypack Creek a few miles away.
