Yesterday, about 6 a.m., Timothy Sullivan, 47, of Folcroft was found in the 8600 block of Lindbergh Boulevard, with a single bullet wound in his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, near the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Sullivan lived in the 1900 block of Carter Road.
Late Monday afternoon, a decomposing body was found in a lot along the 1600 block of North Hope Street in North Philadelphia. Victor Bones, 31, lived in the 700 block of East Clearfield Street in Kensington. A police spokeswoman was unable to confirm a Daily News report that Bones may have been slain by kidnappers seeking ransom. Bones was last seen on Friday, and on Saturday morning a caller demanded ransom, but hung up before fully explaining, family members said.
Sunday morning, the body of a Rhawnhurst man was found in the 4600 block of Rising Sun Avenue in Feltonville. Police identified him as Carlos Camacho, 41, of the 7100 block of Kindred Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wounds, including a head wound, suggested he died from a beating, possibly after an argument, police said.
As of this morning, no ID was yet available on a 20-year-old man found shot in the chest shortly before 9 last night in the near 15th Street and Indiana Avenue in North Philadelphia. He was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m. at Temple University Hospital.
No arrests were made in any of these cases.
As of midnight, 193 killings had been reported this year, six more than a year ago at this time. The rate is down 27 percent from 2007, when 264 homicides had been tallied through Aug. 17.
