Piranha caught in Horsham pond?

Piranhas, the toothy flesh-eating fish, are supposed to be found in South American rivers - or movies like Piranha 3D, in theaters today.

Not the pond at Horsham's Kohler Park.

Wednesday afternoon, however, a six-inch fish with sizable teeth and reddish fins was caught, and reports are saying it was a piranha. Photos of it do resemble pictures of piranha.

Nicholas Hinderlider, wearing a shark-jaw T-shirt, said he caught it while fishing with his dad, according to a Fox29 video.

When his dad went to remove the hook, Nicholas told him to wait, because he heard "a snapping noise."

"We looked in and there was some teeth . . . good, decent-sized teeth," Nicholas said.

Also fishing at the pond was Jeffrey Richar, 14, who said he caught the same fish a couple of weeks ago, only to have it leap back into the water, according to the Bucks County Courier News.

Given the fish, Richar and took it to police, who told him not to throw it back, because it might eat other fish.

Piranha in U.S. waterways are usually discarded pets.

Richar gave the fish to his uncle, because "he likes piranhas," according to the paper.
