Two shootings late Wednesday became homicide cases today when the victims died.
A 22-year-old woman who was hit in the head when gunfire erupted about 10 p.m. Wednesday in Kensington died at 12:01 a.m. today at Temple University Hospital, police said. Her name has not been released yet.
A 29-year-old man also was wounded in the groin in the same shooting on the 2900 block of North Mascher Street remained in stable condition at the hospital.
Initial police reports indicated the weapon used in the shooting was an assault-type rifle.
In the other case, an unidentified man was shot three times in the head and neck about 10:30 p.m. at 60th Street and Chester Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia's Kingsessing section, police said.
He died at 1:58 a.m. today at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, police said.
No arrests have been reported in either slaying.
