Police continued Monday night to investigate the discovery of a woman's body inside an illegal massage parlor in Center City. There was no apparent signs of foul play, police said. Investigators were waiting for the results of an autopsy. At 9:50 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to 813 Sansom Street based on information received by police in Delaware County, police said.
The officers forced their way in when they received no response from inside and found the clothed body of the woman in a bed on the second floor, police said. The unidentified Asian woman was described as about 35 years old, police said. A medic unit pronounced her dead at 9:57 p.m.
There was no one else inside the massage parlor, police said. Police in Delaware County received the 911 call from a pay phone at a Burger King on Baltimore Pike in Morton. Maura Kennedy, a spokeswoman for the Department of Licenses and Inspections, said the agency had no information about the business because it was "operating totally illegally."
