Philadelphia Police have made arrests in two homicide cases and identified the victims of two others.

They also released the name of an alleged carjacker who died from gunshot wounds he suffered in a struggle for a weapon with his would-be victim.

Arrests

Marlin Matthes, 39, has been charged with the murder of his longtime girlfriend, Lee Rochelle Grant, 42.

Grant was found dead on Saturday in the home she shared with Matthes on the 100 block of Collom Street in Germantown.

Grant had a stab wound to the back, but an autopsy determined she died from strangulation, police said.

Nasir Buford, 18, of the 1900 block of Dalkeith Street in Nicetown, has been charged with the murder of neighborhood resident Nathaniel Jackson, 21.

Jackson was sitting on the steps of his home on the 1900 block of Bristol Street Saturday afternoon when Buford came up and started shooting, police said.

Jackson ran, but collapsed and died a block away after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Victims Identified

An 18-year-old man shot and killed early Monday in Germantown has been identified as Chaz Young, of the 2200 block of Yeland Street in Nicetown.

Young, who had been shot in the head, was pronounced dead on the 300 block of West Queen Lane at 1:10 a.m. Monday.

A man shot and fatally wounded inside a Chinese takeout restaurant in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon was identified as Paul Scott, 22.

Scott, who lived on the 3100 block of North Newkirk in North Philadelphia, was shot in the arm and torso at the China Garden on the 5100 block of Haverford Avenue. He died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at 3:35 p.m.

No arrests have been reported in either case.

Slain Carjacker Identified

Police said the alleged carjacker shot during a struggle for gun Saturday night on Homer Street in West Oak Lane was Kyree Bennett, 21, of the 4100 block of Greeby Street in the Mayfair section.

Bennett died Sunday at Albert Einstein Medical Center, where his alleged would-be victim was recovering from a gunshot wound.

No charges have been filed in the case.
