A school bus and a taxi collided this morning in West Philadelphia, injuring at least six children, police said.

The children were taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment of what police described as bumps and bruises.

Twenty-seven other children also were taken to CHOP in a second school bus to be checked out, the Fire Department said.

The Yellowbird school bus was taking students to the Discovery Charter School in the Parkside section about 8:30 a.m. when it made a left turn from Walton Avenue onto South 51st Street and collided with a Victory cab, police said.

Police are investigating.
