At a Delco diner, Meehan takes his victory lap

Newly-elected Republican Patrick Meehan, who cruised to victory Tuesday night in his run for Congress, greeted patrons at a diner in Wayne, Wednesday morning.
Meehan, 55, a former U.S. attorney, thanked the 20 or so people eating at Minella's Diner for their support. Most congratulated him and wished him well. One waitress from Marple wrapped him in a hug and howled with excitement.
Meehan, who defeated Democratic State Rep. Bryan Lentz by 10 points in the Seventh Congressional race, said he now faces a huge responsibility to the voters who elected him.
"It was a tremendous night of celebration for all of those who were a part of the campaign, but a recognition as well that there's a lot of people in this district who are still hurting quite a bit," Meehan told reporters outside the diner. "There are few who are cheering when they continue to be out of work."
