Another jackpot about to bite the dust?

Sometimes, lotteries can't give big bucks away.

Sometimes, lotteries can't give big bucks away.

After Dec. 10, a Quinto ticket worth $50,000 will be worth zilch. Zippo. Nada. Nothing.

Won't even be good for blowing your nose. Too small. The slip, that is, not your nose.

Tick ... tick ... tick ...

Such a lamentable fate happened with about $1 million worth of recently expired tickets in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

- Last Wednesday - the day before Thanksgiving - a $250,000 Mega Million ticket turned into a turkey. It was sold at Candy Court Inc. in Secaucus, N.J.

- On Nov. 8, a $125,000 Cash 5 ticket became pointless pulp. It was purchased at the Valley Forge Beverage Center, 175 N. Henderson Rd., in King of Prussia.

- On Oct. 25, a $415,033 Cash 5 prize went back into Pennsylvania's lottery fund. The winner-turned-loser was printed out at a Donut Connection, in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County.

- On Sept. 19, time ran out for a $200,000 Powerball ticket purchased at Hannold's Sunoco on Jonestown Road in Harrisburg.

But maybe this Quinto buyer will have a happier outcome. The ticket, for the evening drawing, was purchased about a year ago, at Jean's Newsstand in Shenandoah, between Pottsville and Jim Thorpe in Schuylkill County. The numbers to look for are 6-6-4-3-1, in that order.

If you find them, whoop and holler, sign the back, and contact the state lottery. Either call 717-702-8146 or go to the lottery headquarters in Middletown, or one of the seven offices around the state. For more details, go to www.palottery.state.pa.us.
