Marine police on Saturday recovered the dead body of a man who jumped from the Commodore Barry Bridge, according to Delaware River Port Authority spokesman Ed Kasuba.

At about 11:30 a.m., the man was seen walking onto the cantilevered, 2.6-mile long bridge from the ramps in the city of Chester. Police, fire and port authority personnel responded and found the body in the water near the Chester riverbank, Kasuba said.

The bridge deck is several hundred feet above the Delaware River. Chester police are investigating, but had few details in the early afternoon.
