Police are investigating the slaying of a 54-year-old man inside his Gloucester County home.

While the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office described Thomas Carbin's death as a murder, it has not yet said how he was killed.

Carbin's daughter found him dead about 1:15 p.m. Monday in the apartment where he lived alone on River Drive in Westville, the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

The victim's 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was found later Monday about a half-mile away at the gate of Ironworker's Local 399 union hall on Crown Point Road. Carbin was an iron worker.

The statement said he was last seen alive in his apartment by an acquaintance about 8 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information about Carbin or the abandonment of his vehicle is asked to contact Det. Bryn Wilden at (609) 868-2519, or the Prosecutor's Office at (856) 384-5500 or Westville Police at (856) 456-0104. Anonymous text messages can also be directed to 274637. Start the message with GLOTIP
