Lottery jackpot climbs high for Christmas Eve

Santa just might be delivering a life-changing gift come Friday, which is Christmas Eve.

The Mega Millions jackpot will be a merry $168 million - a leap of $23 million - because no one hit all the numbers drawn Tuesday night.

The cash prize will be an estimated $107 million.

These are the biggest Mega Millions amounts since May.

The jackpot in tonight's Powerball drawing is worth $35 million for the annuity, $17.6 million cash.

Before taxes, of course.

The Mega Millions numbers drawn Tuesday night were 8, 11, 12, 31 and 32, with a Mega Ball of 29.

A North Carolina ticket won $1 million for matching the first five numbers while having the Megaplier multiplier option.

Delaware sold one of the $250,000 winners, while New York had two, and Maryland and Kentucky each had one.

California's four such winners will each get $195,910 under that state's pari-mutuel system.
