A 12-year-old boy was at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia this morning after being struck by a truck while riding his bike to school.

The boy was crossing at the intersection of Makefield and Big Oak Roads in Lower Makefield Township shortly before 7:30 a.m., when he was hit by a Coca-Cola truck heading west on Big Oak Road, according to police.

He suffered a head injury and bruises, and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, then transferred to CHOP.

"The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening," according to a statement from Lower Makefield Township police.

The truck driver was not speeding, and the vehicle was in proper working condition, officers concluded.
