Gunman wounds man, self in N. Phila. shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that left both the alleged gunman and his intended victim critically wounded.

Police are investigating a shooting that left both the alleged gunman and his intended victim critically wounded.

The gunfire erupted about 1:20 a.m. in a home on the 2000 block of North 25th Street.

Police said the victim, a 44-year-old man, was summoned to his mother's house because of an unspecified problem.

At the house, the victim told a 46-year-old man to leave, police said. The older man instead grabbed a gun and a struggle ensued.

He shot the younger man in the chest and then the gun went off and hit him in the face, police said.

The younger man ran outside and sped to Temple University Hospital in a private vehicle, police said. The alleged gunman also was taken to Temple, where both were reported in critical condition.

Police have provided no information on the relationship between the two men.
