Philadelphia State Rep. Cherelle Parker was arrested and charged early Sunday morning with driving while drunk in Germantown.
A Philadelphia police officer pulled Parker over after observing her driving the wrong way on a one-way street on the 5800 block of Baynton Street, according to police spokeswoman Tanya Little.
The incident happened at 12:35 a.m. Sunday. After a preliminary arraignment, she was released and her next court appearance is June 1.
"She regrets what happened," said Parker's attorney, Joe Kelly. The lawmaker did not return a call for comment.
"We don't have all the facts yet," Kelly said. "As you know, there have been some problems with the Breathalyzers, though I'm not saying that's the case in this case."
Parker, 38, is a former aide to City Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco, and was first elected to the state House in a special election in 2005.
A Democrat, she represents the 200th Legislative District, which includes Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, Roxborough and Andorra sections of northwest Philadelphia.
