Woman’s charred body found in burned out building

Firefighters found the charred body of a woman after putting out a blaze this morning in a vacant house in West Philadelphia, police say.

Firefighters found the charred body of a woman after putting out a blaze this morning in a vacant house in West Philadelphia, police say.

It is not clear yet how the woman died and officials reportedly were looking for a person seen leaving the standalone row home on the 4900 block of West Girard Avenue before the flames flared.

The fire in the top floor of the three story building in the Parkside section was reported at 5:50 a.m. and declared under control within a half-hour.
