Upper Merion Township police tasered a man early today after he and three others ran from officers responding to a report of a disturbance at a King of Prussia motel by jumping from a second-floor window.

The man got into a car and crashed it several times into an occupied police vehicle and then into the motel building, police said, almost hitting another officer who was standing nearby and fired shots from his gun.

Police said the man, in his 20s, was being treated this afternoon at Paoli Memorial Hospital for injuries related to the car crash and his leap from the motel window. He had not suffered any gunshot wounds.

Police did not release his name, but expected the suspect to be taken into custody and officially charged later today.

The incident, still under investigation, occurred about 1:45 a.m. at the Motel 6 at 815 West Dekalb Pike in King of Prussia.
