It might not be perfect, but the weather for the unofficial start of summer is going to be pretty darn good.

Except for some possible pop up thunderstorms and sticky humidity, the sun will be shining most of the time and highs will make it feel like July.

"Compared to some [past] Memorial Day weekends . . . this one looks quite nice, overall!" the National Weather Service says.

For getaway day today, there's a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, but it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 86 in Philadelphia and environs, according to the National Weather Service.

The low tonight will go down to around 65 and again there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The forecast for Saturday yet again contains a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, but otherwise it will be partly sunny, with a high near 83.

On Sunday, the NWS says it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 and on Memorial Day it will be sunny, with a high near 89.

Things look a little better - and cooler - at the Shore.

The NWS says it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 85 today, and boardwalk promenaders will be blessed with rain-free skies and a low around 66, with winds from the south between 9 and 14 mph.

Here's the forecast for the Shore the remainder of the weekend.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65 and a south wind between 8 and 10 mph.
