Police are questioning a man in the attempted sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl who reported she awoke this morning to find a man with a knife on top of her.

The girl struggled and broke free, prompting the assailant to flee, police said.

Police said the girl was sleeping in a residence on the 3000 block of Fontain Street in Strawberry Mansion when the attacker broke in about 2:30 a.m. and tried to assault her.

The girl was treated for cuts to her hand suffered during the struggle with the attacker.

Investigators are questioning a 30-year-old man at the Special Victims Unit in Kensington.
