Authorities were still searching this morning for a man who fell off a boat thought to be anchored off Petty's Island at the time of the incident.

The U.S. Coast Guard Police and the U.S. Coast Guard received a report of a 40-year-old man in the river about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was apparently with four other people when the boat was anchored at the island, which is on the New Jersey side of the river close to Camden and Pennsauken.

It is also near the Ben Franklin Bridge.

Few details were available as of 5:30 a.m. today, but the New Jersey State Police were able to interview the others who were with the man.

The group was in a small, white boat. A Philadelphia police helicopter unit reported possibly seeing a man swimming in the river late last night, but lost sight of him.
