Going somewhere this winter?
For the price of less than a tank of gas, one airline says it will take you there.
Southwest is offering one-way tickets to selected destinations starting at $35. Of course it's during the off-season. That is, it applies to flights Nov. 30 through Dec. 14 and from Jan. 4 through Feb. 15. And the fares won't be valid for travel on Sundays, usually a big day for business travelers.
The deeply-discounted fares are on sale until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time Thursday. (That's 2:59 a.m. Friday on the East Coast.)
Southwest is using distance as a gauge of what you'll pay. Tickets from PHL to Boston; Cleveland; Manchester, N.H.; Pittsburgh and Raleigh-Durham are $35.
For travel from 451 to 1,000 miles a ticket will run you $65. That covers flights from Philadelphia to Chicago-Midway, Detroit and Indianapolis.
For travel from 1,001 to 1,500 miles - Houston, Tulsa and Oklahoma City - a ticket costs $95; travel 1,501 to 1,500 miles - Denver, Las Vegas, and Phoenix - and the ticket is $125.
