Strawberry Mansion slaying victim identified

A man slain in North Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood Wednesday night in a shooting involving at least two handguns was identified today as 25-year-old Timothy Hansberry.

A man slain in North Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood Wednesday night in a shooting involving at least two handguns was identified today as 25-year-old Timothy Hansberry.

Hansberry also lived in Strawberry Mansion on the 2300 block of North 31 Street, police said.

He was shot in the chest when gunfire erupted about 7:25 p.m. on the 3200 block of West Cumberland Street, police said.

He died at Temple University Hospital at 8:48 p.m.

Police were trying to determine in Hansberry was the intended target or had been caught in a possible cross-fire.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said police did not find a weapon on Hansberry but recovered 15 pieces of ballistic evidence on the scene, including .40-caliber and 9mm shell casings.
