Upper Darby High student arrested with gun

An Upper Darby High School student was taken into custody Monday afternoon when police found he was carrying a gun.

"The one weapon is recovered," said Michael J. Chitwood, Upper Darby Superintendent of Police. In addition, the student was carrying a knife, he said.

Police were called to the school after another student reported seeing the weapon, Chitwood said. The student in custody was carrying ammunition for two different types of handguns and police are continuing to search for a second possible weapon, Chitwood said.
