Car runs off elevated part of I-95, woman hurt
A woman was seriously injured this morning when her car ran off an elevated, rain slicked section of I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia and landed on a street below.
A woman was seriously injured this morning when her car ran off an elevated, rain slicked section of I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia and landed on a street below.
The victim, said to be 28-years-old, was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale campus as a trauma patient. Her condition is not yet known.
It took rescuers about 20 minutes to extricate the woman from the car after it ran off the highway and landed on Grant Avenue in Torresdale around 6:30 a.m.
Police said the car was northbound when the accident occurred. It was raining lightly at the time.
State Police are investigating.
Grant Avenue near the Torresdale train station was closed following the crash.
