Suspected Temple U area robber surrenders

One of two men sought in a series of off-campus armed robberies near Temple University has surrendered to police.

One of two men sought in a series of off-campus armed robberies near Temple University has surrendered to police.

Kevin Wilson turned himself in at the 39th Police District in Tioga-Nicetown about 9 p.m. Monday, officials said.

Still being sought is Timothy Ballard, who, like Wilson, has an arrest record, police said.

The pair were wanted for five robberies that occurred Wednesday between 7:45 and 9 p.m. in the 2000 block of North 15th Street, the 1900 block of West Fontain Street, the 1300 block of North Carlisle Street, the 900 block of West Montgomery Avenue, and the 1300 block of North Franklin Street.

Because some of the victims attended classes at Temple, campus police Friday e-mailed a warning to students to take precautions.
