A speeding minivan careened off an East Germantown street and hit a 58-year-old man standing on the sidewalk Sunday night, according to police.

The man, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at Albert Einstein Hospital.

Police said a gray Oldmobile Silhouette struck the man at 6:28 p.m., while he was standing outside 44 E. Price St. The car then flipped over.

The 22-year-old driver and a passenger both fled on foot, police said, but later returned. Police said they face possible charges, including driving while intoxicated.
