Three undercover police officers were injured, one critically, after their unmarked vehicle crashed into another car in North Philadelphia.
Details are sketchy, but at 2:36 p.m. the cars crashed near 18th St. and Windrim Ave. in the city's Logan section. The officers' vehicle then crashed into a pole, police said.
Officer Ray Hein, critical after suffering head trauma and a broken leg, was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center. He is expected to make a full recovery said Dep. Commissioner Wright. Another officer is in guarded condition with a broken leg, the third is stable. They were expected to be released from the hospital tonight.
The operator of the other car was also taken to Einstein with non-life threatening injuries.
Officer Hein, 40, is a 12-year veteran of the police force, a spokeswoman said.
