2 shot in S. Philly

Police are investigating the shooting of two people this afternoon in the Greys Ferry section of South Philadelphia.

A double shooting in Grays Ferry Friday afternoon left a 45-year-old woman dead and a 23-year-old man hospitalized in critical but stable condition, police said.

Shots rang out on Corlies Street near Dickinson about 2:30 p.m., police said. The man was shot four times in his left arm and the woman was shot in her head.

Both victims were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the unidentified woman was pronounced dead at 3:32 p.m., said Officer Tanya Little, a police department spokeswoman. The woman may have been an innocent bystander, Little said.
Police are looking for a man who was seen running east on Dickinson Street. Additional information on the shooter and his motive were not immediately available.
