One lane on I-95 northbound reopens in N.E. Philly

One lane on I-95 northbound between Cottman Avenue and Academy Road in Northeast Philadelphia has been reopend after the entire stretch was closed for four hours this morning because of a jackknifed tractor-trailer. A resulting spill from a crushed fuel tank on the truck complicated the scene for emergency crews, and the shutdown severely impacted the morning commute for thousands of motorists trapped on the roadway. About 125 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the rain-slicked road from the FedEx truck.

All lanes on I-95 northbound between Cottman Avenue and Academy Road in Northeast Philadelphia are open after the entire stretch was closed for four hours this morning because of a jackknifed tractor-trailer.

When the truck jackknifed about 3:30 a.m. today it also forced closure of the ramp from State Road heading onto I-95 north.
