Party control of the board is at stake this year and Wallace said he will make it a priority to get more Republicans elected to it. In 2010, Wallace and Vincent Nestore became the first Republicans elected to the board in over a decade. Fey resigned one year before his second two-year term was over, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family. Wallace will serve his unexpired one-year term as chairman of the local party organization.
