Potentially 'life threatening' rip currents at Shore today
The National Weather Service is warning swimmers at the Jersey Shore that powerful, "life threatening" rip currents are likely to develop today.The warning comes after the death of a 10-year-old boy, Khitan Devine, who disappeared into the surf in Atlantic City on Sunday. His body was found by lifeguards about four miles south in Margate on Wednesday. The Coastal Hazard Message issued this morning applies to beaches in Atlantic, Cape May and Monmouth counties in New Jersey, as well as Delaware beaches.

The high rip current risk runs through this evening and is calling for surf heights of 4 to 7 feet from an easterly swell.
"Conditions will support the development of very strong rip currents," the message states. "These rip currents will be life threatening to anyone who enters the surf."
But the weather itself probably will not be conducive to swimming without a wet suit. The forcast calls for partly sunny skies with a high only near 72.
A small craft warning also if in effect for ocean waters south of Little Egg Inlet for northeast winds 15 to 25 knots and seas of 4 to 8 feet.
