The man charged in the death of an off-duty Philadelphia police officer in East Mount Airy was released on bail today, according to court records.

Kareem Alleyne, 35, was charged with vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter after allegedly driving his car into a bicycle ridden by Officer Marc Brady late Sunday.

Alleyne's court docket sheet says he posted 10 percent of his $150,000 bail early today.

Police said there was "bad blood" between Alleyne and Brady, 32.

Alleyne's girlfriend is the mother of six of Brady's nine children.

Alleyne told police he struck Brady accidentally, sources familiar with the investigation told the Inquirer.

Brady had been assigned to North Philadelphia's 22nd District, where he has been on desk duty for the past year, officials said.
