Construction workers renovating the vacant property on the 1200 block of Harmony Street discovered the remains about 7:30 a.m., police said.
A city medical examiner later determined the remains were human, but could not ascertain the person's sex.
The cause of death also is not known at this time and an autopsy is planned to determine if foul play was involved.
