Pedestrian killed in Mantua

A pedestrian was struck Monday in Mantua by a driver with a suspended license and later died, authorities said today.

Carol Gonzalez, 70, of Gloucester City, was hit on Bridgeton Pike, near a Kohl's department store, shortly before 6 p.m. She was taken to Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury, where she died, Mantua police said.

Jeffrey Bond, 50, of Deptford Township, the driver of the Ford Explorer involved in the crash, was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license while being involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash. He is being held in the Gloucester County Jail.
