A student was pulled from class in Galloway Township, Atlantic County, yesterday after exhibiting odd behavior and potentially explosive material was later in his home.
The incident began about 2 p.m. Tuesday when concerned school officials at Cedar Creek High School called about a 16-year-old boy's behavior.
Police took the youth to the police station, but found he had made no threats. And they determined he was not a danger to anyone at the school.
Still, they searched his house on East Spencer Lane and found electronic parts and several types of chemicals. Authorities say the materials could be explosive if combined in the correct fashion.
Bomb sniffing dogs were taken to the school, but did not find anything suspicious.
The teen was charged with possession of a weapon, an explosive device, and placed in a youth detention center.
