3 big lottery wins in Philly, burbs

Better to cash 'em than to trash 'em.

In the case of three lottery tickets sold in the Philadelphia area, the cash is a nice piece of treasure.

On Friday, Mega Millions produced two local $250,000 winners, one in Philadelphia and one in Delaware County.

On Saturday, a $225,000 Cash 5 jackpot was won in Chester County.

The Mega Millions tickets just missed the $12 million jackpot, matching the first five numbers - 4, 8, 17, 22 and 32, but not the Mega Ball, which was 8.

They were sold at the Pathmark at 2101 Cottman Ave., in the Rhawnhurst section of Northeast Philadelphia, and at Westmont Beverage, 1101 Clifton Ave., in Collingdale.

No one hit the jackpot, so Tuesday's is worth an estimated $13 million. (For news about Powerball's much bigger jackpot, and the latest numbers, see "Powerball jackpot: New record run?"

The Cash 5 ticket was sold at the Giant supermarket, 235 Lancaster Ave., in Frazer. It matched all the numbers: 3, 11, 16, 19 and 39.

The daily Cash 5 game has a $125,000 jackpot for tonight's drawing.
