Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another wounded early Wednesday in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane section.

Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and another wounded early Wednesday in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane section.

Gunfire erupted around 5:15 a.m. in an alleyway on the 6800 block of Ogontz Avenue, police said.

Officers found one man, said to be about 40 to 50 years old, shot once the side and once chest in the alleyway, police said. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene at 5:25 a.m.

In the meantime, a 57-year-old man arrived at Albert Einstein Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. He told officials he had been shot in the same alleyway. The man was reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators have not yet reported if they have sorted out the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
