Woman sexually assaulted in W. Philly

A 51-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in her West Philadelphia home early Tuesday by a man who grabbed her on the street and forced her inside, police said.

The woman told police she was taking out the trash about 4:50 a.m. when the man confronted her outside the home on the 700 block of South 51st Street in the Cedar Park section.

The man fled on foot after the attack, according to police

Police said they were looking for a male with a dark complexion, about 5-feet, 10-inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a gray, hooded sweat suit, a white hat and white sneakers, police said.

Police said they are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage.They said they hadn't heard of any similar attacks in the area. The woman did not know her attacker, police said.
