Gloucester Township police have announced the arrest of a man they said was agitated and wielding a knife at his home Friday.

Police went to the 500 block of Hobart Drive around 9 a.m. after neighbors complained that Joseph Moore Jr., 56, was "involved in a dispute with another person in the home."

Moore yelled at police on his front lawn, then ran inside and continued yelling through a front window. A police officer from the crisis negotiation team convinced Moore to surrender after an hourlong standoff.

Moore was charged with simple assault, harassment and weapon offenses, police said. He was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
