Pedestrian killed in Northeast Phila. crash

A man died Monday evening after being struck by an automobile while crossing Cottman Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The man, described only as in his 40s, was crossing the 2200 block of Cottman Avenue about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle, police said. Medics took him to Aria Health-Torresdale Campus, where he was pronounced dead at 6:29 p.m.

The vehicle remained at the scene of the accident, which was under investigation, police said. - Robert Moran
