A 46-year-old man was fatally shot multiple times Friday evening while driving an SUV that then crashed into a house in the city's Point Breeze section, police said.

Shortly before 6 p.m., police were called to the 1500 block of South Cleveland Street, where they found a 2008 Nissan SUV crashed into the front of a house with the engine revving, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. "The victim was unconscious in the driver seat with his foot on the gas."

Police rushed the bloodied driver to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead at 6:06 p.m. Doctors determined he had been shot in the head, left shoulder, chest, and torso, Small said. Only one shell casing was found on the sidewalk, suggesting the shots may have come from inside a doorway or window of a house in the block. No arrests were reported. - Robert Moran
