A man was in stable condition Thursday night after being shot several times on a North Philadelphia street, and the gunman is still on the loose, police said.

A man was in stable condition Thursday night after being shot several times on a North Philadelphia street, and the gunman is still on the loose, police said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was leaving his girlfriend's house near 17th and Pike Streets about 5:40 p.m. when he was shot in the torso and legs, police said. When officers arrived, they found him hiding under his car and six bullet casings nearby. He was taken to Temple University Hospital.

The victim described the shooter as a man between 19 and 25 with a dark complexion and a dark jacket, police said. - Ben Finley
